April - September 2019 Harvest Time Bible Camp

Harvest Time Bible Camp
April - September 2019
A LONG HOT SUMMER!

We arrived the last day of March at Harvest Time and since all the RV spots were taken at the camp we had to park at a RV Park close by.  This was only for the month of April and then we were able to move to the camp for May thru September.  The reason we stayed at Harvest Time for 6 months was because a major building project was taking place - the old kitchen/dining hall had been demolished Fall of 2018 so that the new one could be constructed during the Spring of 2019 in hopes that it would be ready for the Summer 2019 camp season!  As it turns out only 8 days of cooking at Big Springs Baptist Church 5 miles away was needed until we obtained occupancy.  A glorious day that was, after 2 1/2 months of major construction.

During that time Lilly (age 6) was able to spend 3 different weeks with us at the camp.  She loves playing with the Brackeen kids, enjoyed helping out this summer as she was a little older and learning to ride a horse.  What a great summer.

The first week included Easter so we took Lilly to St. Augustine, FL for a little R & R and visit with Aunt Barb and Uncle Gary.  Easter sunrise on the beach and playtime with the Murphy's.

the Murphy's in St. Augustine.

A visit to the Alligator
Farm in St. Augustine,
watch out g'pa, he is
hangry!

A bunny mermaid? or
a mermaid bunny? or
a bun maid? or
a merny?  Dunno!

Helping Uncle Gary build a.......

I think a turtle!

Pretty good bocce ball player!

A gator with a FSU belt buckler and
a little NC State cheerleader,
what a combination!

One of the first things
SOWERs did was take out
all of the old seating at the
horse arena and replace with new.

Then construction began.
Trusses were delivered and
up up up it went.

The ladies stained and sealed all
the boards used for the ceiling to go in the
new kitchen/dining hall.

Everyday something new was
added and it was starting to
take shape.  But campers are
coming soon!

The septic system between the
new construction and the chapel.
It will take care of a lot of potties
and kitchen cooking!

The ladies also drained and cleaned
the swimming pool for the summer
season to begin very soon.  It was
covered in slim and decayed leaves
from the winter.  Now it is ready
for swimmers.

Wayne replacing the flashing around
the Mim's mansion.

Ceiling begins to go up in
the kitchen/dining hall.

Sectioning off the kitchen areas,
bathrooms, storage rooms and
laundry rooms.

Putting up the wallboard
in the kitchen area.

Lighting and now we can see!

Gotta have a little fun now and then!

First mopping in the new
dining hall!  One of many!

Lilly gets her first
ride on a tractor.
A real farmer now!

Landscaping, roofing, porches,
it's all taking shape.

And of course we need
tables to eat on!

Painted banners
for the Olympic Theme.

Porches are for porch people!

Lilly making cookies on a Sunday afternoon
for the campers coming on Monday.

And of course a
cake too!

One of Lilly's favorites
from the Snack Shack
HONEY BUNS!

Sealing the new
porch furniture.

And what's a camp pastime?

Playing in the creek!

Picnic table gets
a new coat of red paint.

And Mim's Mansion gets
stain and sealer on the front
door and several windows.

Picture with my great
g'ma (Nanny) Holland!

On the road again!  After 6 months at Harvest Time Bible Camp we are off to
Summerdale, AL for some R & R and hopefully some beach combing before heading to the Board Meeting in Lindale, TX.
